Something new for 2024
When I became a believer during my senior year in high school, I loved studying the names of God. I had a big poster filled with God’s names and attributes: I Am, El Shaddai, Elohim, etc… It was a black background with His names in different colors filling the poster. Anyone remember it? The poster was a staple in Christian bookstores in the ’80s.
It traveled with me to college and back and to my first apartment. I would meditate on this visual reminder in times of stress, and it brought so much comfort. By the time I finally retired it, the edges were tattered, and it had countless creases from the many moves.
Remember the Amy Grant classic, El Shaddai?
I wore that cassette out on my Sony Walkman! El Shaddai, El Elyon, Adonai – still gives me goosebumps.
Ann Spangler has a beautiful Bible study, Praying the Names of God for 52 Weeks, and I’ll be working my way through it this coming year. I’d love for you to join me! We’ll start with Elohim the first week in January, so if you want to hop on board, order the book and get ready to fall more in love with the great I Am.
The book is available from Faith Gateway, and it’s on sale for $11.99 till November 22, 2023. If you order from the publisher, you’ll get a bonus gift of a printable download of the names. Or there’s always Amazon!
I do hope you’ll join me on this journey! I’ll be posting my thoughts on the blog, and we’ll have a discussion on my writer FB page. Friend me there if you haven’t already!
