Right On Time

Do you ever get frustrated when you see a lie being perpetuated as truth?

Thought so. I knew I wasn’t alone. You know what really gets under my skin? When atheists make a bunch of unsubstantiated claims that get repeated in an echo chamber until those who don’t do their homework accept the nonsense as truth.

Do you ever wonder when God is going to intervene?

As I’ve said in this little series on God’s timing, He’s always right on time. Something has happened in the last few weeks that has had me fist pumping the air.

Have you ever heard of Billy Carson?

I hadn’t until news of his debate with Canadian apologist Wesley Huff started making the rounds in apologetics circles. For context, watch this. Or this. Or this. Billy Carson is a self-proclaimed ancient manuscripts expert whose bread and butter is tearing down Christianity. He claims that Jesus wasn’t crucified, Jesus was married, that the oldest manuscripts don’t mention his resurrection, blah, blah, blah. He got such a following that he made it to the Joe Rogan podcast. That’s huge. News like that makes me want to rend my robes and throw ashes on myself.

Not so fast.

Billy Carson agreed to debate Wes Huff, and Wes, in his gracious, soft-spoken, Canadian way, wiped the floor with him. It almost made me feel sorry the guy. Almost. Their debate exploded on YouTube. Wes Huff’s YouTube channel has gone from 12,000 followers a month ago to 271, 000 followers today. And guess who just appeared on Joe Rogan? Wes Huff. It’s awesome. From the outset, Joe Rogan acknowledges that Wes Huff is an actual expert on the Bible and that Billy Carson didn’t have the facts straight.

What does that have to do with God’s timing?

For those of us who get frustrated when people spread misinformation unchecked, this saga has been a reminder that God knows what He’s doing and when to do it. Billy Carson has a huge following. Now, Wes Huff has a huge following. Think of how many of Joe Rogan’s followers will hear solid evidence for Biblical truth. Consider how many lives will be changed because God waited to expose Billy Carson’s lies until the truth would reach hundreds of thousands of people.

If you’re waiting on God, trust His timing!
