Jesus Christ, our Messiah

For all of Peter’s fumbles, you gotta love his boldness, his willingness to be the first to acknowledge Jesus for who he is.

Now when Jesus came into the region of Caesarea Philippi, He was asking His disciples, “Who do people say that the Son of Man is?”

And they said, “Some say John the Baptist; and others, Elijah; and still others, Jeremiah, or one of the other prophets.” He said to them, “But who do you yourselves say that I am?” Simon Peter answered, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” – Matthew 8:13-16

The three synoptic gospels have this account, and all three tell Peter’s response.

Who are some of the other notables to acknowledge Jesus as the one they were looking for?

Christianity, if false, is of no importance, and if true, of infinite importance. The only thing it cannot be is moderately important. – C.S. Lewis

Who do you say Jesus is?

Chuck Missler, one of my favorite Bible teachers, used to say he read Romans 8 once a day to make sure it was still there.

Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death. For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. – Romans 8:1-2, 38-39
